Hooded Parrots

The Hooded Parrot comes from a small region bordered on the western side of the Gulf of Carpentaria. The two things that separate it from most other Australian parrot species are its nesting habit of digging a chamber at the end of a tunnel in anthills and its breeding period of March through to September. It is a beautiful slender bird which stands out in any aviary.
