Automatic Watering System

An automatic watering system is used to provide fresh water 24/7. The system is operated by timers operating control valves that flush the bowls 3 times daily for 3 minutes each time. The bowls are cleaned out fortnightly in summer and every 3-4 weeks in winter.

The aviaries also have a system of sprays which operate up to 6 times daily for 5 minutes each time during the hot summer months. The temperatures at Seaham will sometimes be over 40 degrees and the sprays are sufficient to provide the birds with relief from these extremes.

Both systems use garden poly piping and associated parts. The sprays use 360° miniature spray heads that allow the birds to bathe and the roof to be cooled down.
