According to Joseph Foreshaw’s ‘Parrots of the World’ the White-Fronted Amazon is a member of the species Amazona albifrons. He states there are 3 sub-species in this genus and that there distribution is from Mexico to Costa Rica. It is difficult to know which sub-species applies to the parrots represented in Australian aviaries. Foreshaw states that over much of its range the White-Fronted Amazon is common and very conspicuous in semi-open and scrubby woodland, grasslands with scattered large trees, gallery woodland and at the margins of more humid forest.
